Favourite song: Nina Simone – I Put A Spell On You
Once you’re past your teens I reckon favourite song just invites you to pick one out of a large number of great songs, and I might have picked something else on another day. But I would pick this a lot of the time, the strings drag you in from the start, the piano is lovely, Simone’s voice is never better. And then the brass comes in. “I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you anyhow, and I don’t care if you don’t want me, I’m yours right now.” Love is rarely as pure as we’d like to think.
